How to Throw a Bachelorette in Charleston, SC

I threw a bachelorette for my future sis-in-law Lisa, and it was a BLAST. Short and fun weekends are my favorite. Charleston is the perfect small southern town to throw a bachelorette weekend. We stayed a few blocks from King Street (where a lot of bars and restaurants are). We walked around a lot, but got some Uber’s when we didn’t feel like walking. Another perk - since Charleston is a small town, all the Ubers were pretty cheap. I’ve detailed the whole weekend itinerary below! We had a list of a lot of other things to do but we couldn’t do it all, so I listed some other places that are highly recommended. Make sure to get some cute decorations, make goodie bags, and get all the bride’s favorite snacks for when you are hungry!

My top tips for planning a bachelorette:

  • Find a place to stay before you do anything else! Airbnbs are recommended for larger crowds, if it is a smaller crowd stay in a hotel!

  • Ask the brides for lists of do’s & don’ts (ex: do: go on a boat, don’t: get penis decor)

  • Don’t ask for $$$ until the end, and add everything up. Especially if someone drops out early or some gets added in last minute. That way everything is evenly split!

  • Make a group text thread to discuss everything!

  • Talk to the group and see who is willing to spend what, and who can help.

  • Send out a detailed itinerary weeks before - list everything from outfits, if we are eating out/in, how much money things will be worth, etc.

  • Make all reservations at least 2 weeks in advance. This is SO helpful and you won’t have to wait anywhere. Even if you get rooftop drinks!

  • Get snacks. Drunk snacks, morning snacks, all snacks! Buying that frozen pizza and keeping it in the Airbnb will be worth it (and cheaper than ordering Pizza Hut at 3am).

  • Don’t overbuy alcohol. I always do this… but it’s easier to run out and get another case of beer than having an extra case of beer at the end of the weekend that costed $20. I never end up spending as much time in the Airbnb as I think I will!

  • Make a shared photo stream or google drive album to put all pictures in! Everyone always takes their own pictures on their phone and it can be hard to gather everything you want by the end of the weekend.

  • Make fun goodie bags! They are cheap and fun and a way to give everyone their items for the weekend (t-shirt, hat, sunglasses, anything!).

  • Make a Spotify playlist for the weekend - send it out to the other girls joining and tell everyone to add fun songs.

Day 1

11am: Arrive at Charleston Airport
1pm: Lunch at Felix - I got the croque monsieur and the la voilà cocktail. Everything was ADORABLE and this place is super cute for pictures.
2-3pm: Shopping on King Street while we wait to check into Airbnb
3-5pm: We checked into our Airbnb at 3, set up and decorated and relaxed!
5-6pm: The rest of the girls arrived and we all got ready, while sippin’ trulys.
6-7pm: Lingerie shower - we go the bride’s sizes and asked everyone to bring a present. Get the bride buzzed off of some drinks and make her model everything!
730pm: Dinner at Fuji Sushi - this sushi was so good!
9pm: Drinks at Prohibition - I also recommend eating here, the food looked amazing. The very back of the restaurant has an outdoor bar and really cool vibe.
10pm - whenever: Uptown Social - this bar was HUGE and my advice is get there early so you don’t have to stand in line. The bar is 3 floors, with the top floor as an outdoor rooftop bar (get the flamingo bong and make sure friends chug a beer in it). Lots of dancing and fun!

Day 2

9-11am: Wake up, make breakfast (I got eggs, bacon, doughnut holes, and berries), make mimosas (get different juices). I also got cotton candy to put on top of the mimosas - SUCH a cute idea!
11-12:30pm: Get ready for the day, wear our matching t-shirts, take group pictures
1-3pm: Boat ride (we used Sandlapper Tours). This was SO fun and everyones favorite part of the weekend!
3-7pm: Hang out at the Airbnb, shower, make frozen pizzas.
7-8pm: Drinks at The Rooftop of the Vendue Hotel
8-9pm: Drinks at Pavilion Bar Rooftop in the Market Pavilion Hotel - this place had the best view and was GORGEOUS.
9-11pm: Dinner at Fleet Landing (my favorite place in Charleston - SUCH good seafood. Make sure to make a reservation!)
11pm - whenever: NV Dance Lounge (the cutest little night club - not too crowded)
